...We will fight this disease wherever it is and we will never, never let down our guard until we have a vaccine and effective treatments to quell its onslaught. COVID-19 will probably be a permanent part of our disease paradigm going forward; but if we can mitigate its effects through treatments and vaccines then we will know that we have done all that we can. But for now our only recourse is to stop the spread by whatever means we have. That means reduce person to person contact by whatever means necessary. I have worked for the Madison County Health Department for twenty-four years, in several capacities. I think we can all agree life right now is at best, uncomfortable, inconvenient and disconcerting. For most, life should be staying at home. For some others, it’s a whirlwind of decisions among uncertainty, rapidly changing information, and facing an unseen enemy that is literally everywhere. As Madison County’s cases have increased 6 times over in 72 hours, I am still thankful...
